A Dutch EORI number for your company
Every company that files customs declarations in the EU needs an EORI number. A company from outside the EU applies for it in the EU country where it files its first declaration. We prepare the application for you.
Your EORI number, applied for
Customs charges nothing for the number itself. We prepare the application and the attachments, and send it to Dutch Customs.
Who needs one
Every company that files customs declarations or customs applications in the EU must be registered with an EU customs authority, and receives an EORI number. One EORI number is valid in the whole EU. A company established outside the EU registers with the customs authority of the place where it files its first declaration.
Companies from outside the EU
Dutch Customs has a separate application for companies with their head office outside the EU. You apply through the online form of the National Customs Helpdesk, or on a paper form. You add a document from the trade register of your own country: the original or a certified copy, no older than six months and in English. A sole proprietorship also adds a copy of the passport and proof of registration at the address. If your company has a permanent establishment in the EU, its registration is added as well.
Companies established in the Netherlands
The EORI number of a Dutch company is NL followed by its RSIN, the Dutch legal entity number, with zeros added in front to make nine digits.
EORI and VAT
The EORI number is for customs, the VAT number for VAT. A company that imports into the Netherlands and sells here usually needs both. Import VAT is due at import; with a Dutch VAT registration you deduct it in your Dutch VAT return.
The VAT registration itself is described on our page on VAT registration in the Netherlands for foreign companies.
What we do
We check whether your company needs an EORI number, complete the application, check the attachments and send it to Dutch Customs: € 59 one-off, excl. VAT. Customs itself charges nothing for the number. Need a Dutch VAT registration as well? That is € 275, everything included.
Frequently asked questions
Is an EORI number free?

Can a UK company use its GB EORI number in the EU?
No. For customs declarations in the EU it needs an EORI number from an EU customs authority.
Is the EORI number the same as the VAT number?
No. One is for customs, the other for VAT.
What does EORI stand for?

How do I check whether an EORI number is valid?
You can check the validity of a number in the European EORI system.

Yes. Customs can invalidate it at your own request, or when they know that your company has stopped the activities for which it needed the number.
